What is tifo?

Tifo is a phenomenon where fans, known as "tifosi" in Italian, celebrate their team by creating organized displays in the stands, primarily within organized football. Originating in Italy and Southern Europe in the late 1960s and early 1970s, tifo culture involves supporters meeting to systematically show their support during away matches through banners and flags. Common elements in tifo include confetti, fabric mosaics, streamers, balloons, flares, smoke bombs, banners, and flags. Tifo work is typically carried out by the team's tifo group or ultras.

Who are Sofiläktaren Tifo?

"Djurgården's primary supporter association, Järnkaminerna, is closely associated with the iconic Sofialäktaren stand at Stockholm Stadion, a tradition that continues at Tele2 Arena, thereby inspiring the name Sofia Tifo. This collective, established in 2013 during the club's transition to Tele2 Arena from Stockholms Stadion, specializes in crafting vibrant terrace choreographies, featuring elements such as confetti, mosaic displays, overhead flags, and pyrotechnics, to enhance the atmosphere during Djurgården's matches. Originally known as 'Fabriken Stockholm,' the group underwent a transformation, evolving into 'Sofialäktaren Tifo' after disbanding in 2013 and reorganizing with a renewed focus on supporting Djurgårdens IF."
